Museum of Croydon closure - COVID-19

In response to increasing concerns around the impact of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), and following the latest government advice, we have made the decision to close the Museum of Croydon, Research Room & Archive from 3pm Friday 20th March until further notice. The health and well being of our staff, volunteers and visitors is of utmost importance.

If you have an appointment to view materials in the Research Room and Archive your appointment will be cancelled and we will be in contact when we reopen when appointments will be available. Please accept our apologies during this time.

While our museum is closed the MoC team have been busy putting plans in place for a digital offer. We will be looking over the coming weeks to offer as many online opportunities for engagement as we can so we can continue to offer a Museum of Croydon – virtually! We’ll also be launching our ‘Inside the Clocktower’ programme with behind the scene tours of our exhibitions, collections and archives to unlock new and exciting stories.

Museums have an important role in providing an outlet for everyone if you are social distancing or self-isolating we can learn from our collective heritage as Croydon residents in how adaptable we are in overcoming such circumstances.

Therefore whilst our 'What's Your Croydon?' programme, exhibitions and activities may be on pause we'd like to think of how we can connect our communities even more and share our stories. So we are now asking the question 'What's Our Croydon?' and we want you to help - digitally!

We look forward to welcoming you back as soon as we can!
