A Whole Summer of Art & Joy
We’re absolutely delighted to welcome back Dementia, Art & Joy sessions this summer, following the successful launch of our Art & Joy exhibition. We continue to spread the joy with summer activities for all ages; discover our events on the what’s on page.
We recently celebrated the classic British seaside holiday. Our group, made up of people living with dementia, their carers, and individuals whose families have been affected by dementia, gathered to reminisce about cherished memories of sitting on the beach and paddling in the sea.
We shared paintings from our collection, including In a Seaside Pavilion, by Frank Warren and Finish of the Regatta by Frank Joseph Archer.
The group then created 3D postcards, drawing inspiration from Victorian greeting cards from our museum collection. Using magazines and craft materials, they brought their memories to life in beautiful dioramas.
If you care for, or know someone living with dementia and would like to join us for one of our sessions please email museum@croydon.gov.uk
You can visit our Art & Joy exhibition between 20th May - 29th November 2025.

Family Fun!
All throughout the summer we are also doing Art & Joy activities for families, with a different theme each week! So far we’ve had fun making 3D seaside picture frames and gratitude feathers. You can join us every Wednesday 2-4pm until the 3rd September.
Let us know in the comments below your feedback on the activities and/or project!
