Croydon Presents: An exhibition of Croydon’s theatres, performance and people

On September 30th the Museum of Croydon launches an exhibition exploring the theatres of Croydon through place, design, people and performance. The exhibition will seek to engage with its audiences, local groups and performers to capture memories and inspire discussion on ‘what ‘theatre’ means to you?’. It will step beyond theatre as a location and explore other unusual places for arts and performance in Croydon.

The exhibition will feature the stories of local Croydon people, including a photography project by local artist Lukasz Izdebski. This project will celebrate the borough's diversity and the wealth of talent found in Croydon. It will showcase performances as well as the 'behind the curtains' moments – from rehearsals, preparations, workshops to portraits of individuals. Capturing the magic of theatre, arts and performance.

Workshops prior and during launch will begin our Croydon interactive ‘map’ of engagement. Throughout the exhibition this map will grow with memories, locations and thoughts, becoming a permanent part of the Museum and Archive collections.

What happens when worlds collide? Would sparks fly, or would it pass you by?

Every day our lives intertwine with hundreds, thousands, millions of others, and most of the time we don't even notice.

But once in a while our stories align.

Or do they?

Join Phoenix and the Wolf as we explore landmarks of shared experience. Those strange, surprising and seminal moments that stick in the mind and beg the question "Where were you when?"

We're all unique. It's the one thing we have in common.

Tickets are free. If you are someone who would normally pay for a theatre ticket, you are welcome to make a donation to Phoenix Players by changing the ticket price.
