Forge: Industries of Croydon celebrates the people, places, and innovations of industry in the borough, past and present. Along with an overview of iconic factories, the exhibition explores three industrial themes – fabric, metal and brewing.
At the core of the display are images of Addington blacksmiths forge, taken by local photographer Lee Williams. Dating back to 1740, the forge is still in full use and Lee’s photographs reveal behind-the-scenes of a traditional industry that continues to thrive.
Visit us at the Museum of Croydon to explore Croydon’s rich industrial past that has forged the town as we know it today. From its rural roots to its factories and power stations, Croydon companies have been making products for centuries.
