Shaping Croydon is a major new exhibition exploring the intersection between architectural innovation and ambitious town planning, focusing on the changing vision of the town centre from the post-war period to today. 

With its ever-evolving skyline, Croydon has become a ‘palimpsest’ town, with its patchwork layers and much-loved brutalist landmarks, such as No.1 Croydon (affectionately known as the 50p building), space –inspired tower blocks like Lunar and Apollo House and post-war modernist buildings like Fairfield Halls.  

Featuring contemporary photography by Croydon artist and photographer Glenn Foster, work from photographers associated with the Gareth Gardner Gallery, displays from Croydon Urban Room looking at the future of Croydon’s town centre, and materials from Museum of Croydon and Croydon Archives.
