Therapeutic Productions: Breathing life into real world art
Thursday 8 October 2026 – Saturday 30 January 2027
Launched in 2021, Therapeutic Productions use creativity to empower people across society. The initiative is led by creatives, artists and social entrepreneurs who use film, music and art skills to highlight social issues.
The Therapeutic Productions exhibition focuses on three of the initiative’s largest projects to date. Dark Thoughts explores the lives of philosophers and intellectuals who work within a western context. Identifying, preserving and promoting current work whilst also delving into the life of 18th century abolitionist Ottobah Cugano, who used his life story and time in the UK to campaign for the end of enslavement. In Prodigal Monster, the storyline raises awareness for positive mental health and rehabilitation services; as well as exploring the path of recovery for those who are incarcerated. The final section of the show, The Burning Breath Chapters, is a book which journeys through childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and maturity, exploring the overcoming of traumatic experiences through practices such as therapy and meditation.
