Together we’ll make Art and Joy!

We are excited to share our new take home activities AND a new display wall on the ground floor of the Croydon Clocktower showing results from our ‘Art & Joy’ sessions from September 2024 to May 2024. This was in advance of our new exhibition Art and Joy launching 20 May 2025.

From May 2025 to November 2025 this area is reserved for displaying information about local Croydon Dementia Friendly services and events. Please contact the museum or pop in to talk to staff, to display your events/services. We are open Wed-Sat 11-4pm.

Activities can now be found and enjoyed in our new exhibition Art and Joy 20 May to 29 November 2025!

What is Art and Joy?

As part of the project ‘Dementia, Art and Joy’; Art and Joy is a series of fortnightly sessions for people living with dementia and their carers. The group offers the opportunity to take part in creative activities in a fun, welcoming and supportive environment.

Our activity, feedback and general information box

I am so happy to share our new project wall showcasing the sessions we have done to-date. The beauty of this project is in the freedom to grow week to week with new ideas and concepts. This project wall was born from the staff and facilitators themselves; when walking into the sessions we had the aim to mentally drop any worries at the door and be open to joy with the participants. Walking out of the session each time has given us this feeling of happiness and unexpected mindfulness. How can we possibly want to give joy without feeling it ourselves? These activities are for the public to get a taste of the sessions and hopefully evoke that sense of joy at home. Letting go of detailed plans and schedules, just bouncing session to session with new ideas (like this impromptu project wall) has been my personal joy!
